Valles Marineris 3D Printed Topographic Map
Brooklyn, NY
2020
This is a high resolution 3D printed topographical map of Valles Marineris, the largest canyon system on Mars, mounted on stained hardwood. This vast canyon system runs along the Martian equator for 2,500 miles, reaching depths of up to 4 miles. In fact, the extent of Valles Marineris is as long as the entire United States and spans about 20 percent of the entire circumference of Mars. By comparison, the Grand Canyon in Arizona is about 500 miles long and typically less than 1 mile deep.

The data used to create this model were provided by NASA and free to download via this link: http://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/detail/valles-marineris-6x
